Oxidative stress-mediated proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) contributes to plaque formation and the progression of atherosclerosis. Polydatin is a derivative of resveratrol, and is widely present in certain herbal medications used for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases.
